How to Host a Successful Open House:
Choose a time (between Oct. 23 - Oct. 27, 2023)
Plan for roughly 1 hour for the open house. Depending on whom you want to attract (local or people who traveled in for Verge, SoCap and Deeptech x Climate week, you can plan your open house around those events)
Depending on what audience you want to attract, you can host the open house any day of the week.
Plan for Group Tours
If you plan to showcase your labs or facilities, consider breaking the audience into small groups (approximately 10 people per group). This ensures a personalized and informative experience for each visitor.
Prepare a bit of drink and snacks for your visitors if that comes in handy! Provide detailed instructions for your audiences to attend. If your headquarters is in an enclosed building with security measures, please ensure your audiences receive check in approvals or any measure that is needed to enter the building. Provide your own contact information for audiences so they can phone you if they have difficulty navigating to your headquarters.
Provide an Overview of Your Company Prior to Visit
Before visitors arrive, share an overview deck that highlights your company's mission, goals, and achievements. This will give attendees valuable context.
Consider NDAs for Sensitive Materials
If your headquarters or lab contains sensitive information, consider having visitors sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before the tour. You can also use Lu.ma to selectively approve attendees if necessary.
Deliver a Brief Presentation
Begin the open house with a brief presentation (around 10 minutes) to introduce your company and its innovative solutions. If you don't have a large conference room, don't worry; you can engage your audience effectively through a verbal presentation, or provide printouts for your audiences.
If you want to make the open house into more of an event type that even brings other speakers to do panel presentations with a topic in mind that might interest the community, feel free to do so!
Allow Time for Q&A
Encourage attendees to ask questions and engage in discussions. A Q&A session enhances understanding and fosters meaningful connections.
Follow Up & Stay Connected
After the open house, stay connected with attendees. Follow up to explore potential collaborations, partnerships, or investment opportunities.
The San Francisco Bay Area will be buzzing with climate-related events at the end of October, including SoCap (Oct 23-25) and Verge (Oct 24-26).
